It’s been a long and cold winter in Oklahoma, but spring is just around the corner! Celebrate the season with an outdoor party for St. Patrick’s Day, Mother’s Day or Easter. But not just any barbecue or tea party will suffice to welcome warmer weather. Check out these party tips from our Oklahoma artificial lawn designers and get ready to party hard!
1. Adult tea party
Adults can have tea parties, too! In addition to traditional tea selections such as tea sandwiches and crumpets, take your party to the next level with refreshing spring inspired drinks! Serve drinks in teacups for an extra fun twist and don’t forget the lemonade!
2. Edible flower ice cubes
Nothing says springtime quite like fresh flowers. Did you know that many flowers are actually edible? Roses, marigolds, violets, pansies, geraniums, and flowers from mint and chive plants are edible and make the perfect addition to tea, water and cocktails. Freeze them into large ice cubes in layers and then add to your favorite springtime cooler for a cute and festive addition to your party meal.
3. Flower centerpieces
Without a centerpiece, your table is just bare! Create a beautiful arrangement of fresh flowers that will brighten the mood of your party. A floral cupcake arrangement topped with edible flowers is another stellar idea for a visually stunning centerpiece like the ones seen here.
4. Lawn games
Unlike natural grass, artificial grass does not have dirt sod. Let the kids roll around without fear of grass stains or play a game of giant Jenga without worrying about how a falling piece might cause a dent in your sod. Cornhole is another great outdoor game that will provide hours of entertainment.
5. Spring candy
Nothing says spring more than Peeps, jellybeans and Jordan almonds! Strategically place bowls of pastel-colored spring candies that guests can grab throughout your party and fill up cellophane bags with layers of candy so they can take some home, too!
6. Dirt cup desserts
Dirt cups make are a delicious and festive dessert that tastes even better when served in miniature flower pots with shovel spoons. Add some gummy worms or chocolate-covered strawberries decorated to look like carrots. Put a marshmallow Peeps® bunny, green-dyed coconut flakes and candy eggs on top to decorate your dirt cups if you’re hosting an Easter party.
7. Seasonal menus
A sample seasonal menu for your spring soirée could include:
- A seasonal fruit and cheese platter featuring strawberries, peaches, plums, figs, and local cheeses
- A fresh spinach salad topped with sliced strawberries, feta, candied pecans, and a lemon-poppy seed vinaigrette
- Quiche with spinach, asparagus or artichoke, and topped with fontina cheese and spring onions
- Roasted chicken with root vegetables and citrus-rosemary glaze
- Grilled lemon salmon and lemon roasted asparagus
- Braised lamb shanks with sweet potato mash
- Build-your-own taco bar
- Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting
